Great Car With Great Value

We used our car for more than 9 years. In this time period, it was being used daily for short as well as long trips. To set the context, we live in a remote village in Kerala with mediocre roads and the topography is quite hilly. Needless to say, getting a move on with full occupants can be quite challenging in this terrain. We bought the car primarily for the tall-boy design which is a boon when you have 5 tall passengers in the car. The power steering is worth every penny and overall the car is very easy to drive. It is powerful enough to carry 5 adults around on really steep hill while delivering great fuel economy.   The overall maintenance of the car is quite easy, as any authorised Maruti service centre will always have most of the parts that you need in case of a replacement. This is something that helps in case you are on a long trip, to some remote location. We expected the car to give up on the potholes on the roads next to our house, but it took them with relative ease. Yes, it can toss you around a bit if you don't drive at the right speed, but overall it is a comfortable car. The boot space is enough for a family of four and a full-size American Tourister travel bag plus a medium size VIP suitcase can easily fit in the boot.   This biggest advantage of the car is the good overall visibility it provides you and even at the price point of around 4.5 Lakh it is built really well. Even though we rode it on bad roads almost every other day, it never gave the rattling noise or shakes that you get in other such cars in its class.   In terms of fuel efficiency, we were getting 16kmph even though most of the time we were driving around in 3rd gear. A small concern that popped up after around 8 years was that a bit of water was dripping into the ignitor. This was primarily because we had parked it in the rain a few times and due to this a bit of water seeped in. But as usual, this was fixed for around Rs. 300. It kept working perfectly until the time we sold it (Wagon R also has amazing resale value). We were very reluctant about selling the car after all these years, but finally, we made the decision only because our family expanded. For first time buyers, I suggest that this is a great car and it can outclass anything from other Korean brands due to its build quality, refined engine, and low cost of ownership.
