Mahindra Quanto

After a long waiting at last a car is here among the overpriced i20's, Polos, etc that serve the purpose better and is cheap. Yes I am talking about the recently launched Mahindra Quanto. At first when we check the car from the front it seems that a Xylo is standing in front of you but when we take a round of this car we come to a conculsion that this is a beautiful car having better proportion than a Xylo. Looks of this cars are good and would appeal the young to buy it. From the bold black grill, side foot railings to the rear view having stepni in a classy  cover every thing goes in stride for this mini SUV. The tail lights look  impressive with black portions and feels as part of the car unlike the Scorpio or Xylo If we check the interior out then we find alot of space for our legs to  rest. The dash is borrowed from the Xylo even the air vents are same and you  feel as if you are sitting in a Xylo. Front seats are comfortable and give a  good view of the road which makes driving easier.  Rotary controls feel a bit far if your height is not good. Driver seat is height adjustable.  There are a lot of bottle holding spaces in front and back and snack trays at the back. There are charger ports at the back also The last row in this car is what I am pretty sceptical about as the same is not having comfortable seats to qualify Quanto for a seven seater. It can be said that Quanto is a 5 seater with a large boot if somebody wants to sit in that boot the same would not be much comfortable. Hand/elbow rests for both the  front seat comes handy for longer drives. Sadly there is no centre arm rest in the middle row. There is also a sunglasses holder in front which is handy rather than to take out your glasses from the glove box. The dash color in the front if grey or black could have looked cool. You start the engine and it is smooth. You do not at all feel that you have started a big  deisel engine. You step on the gas and the Quanto starts to glide. The car does a good a job in the city traffic and the 1.5 litre 3 cylinder MicroHybrid engine is peppy and responsive at slow speeds. It is only at higher speeds the car lags a turbo and it is left behind its other counterparts. You have to work hard for taking this car to drive on highway. There was a lot of body roll also for this car at smaller curves. The ride quality is not one of the best and is bumpy espiacially for the middle and rear passengers. The microhybrid engine stops when the cars is at halt for long and automatically  starts when the clutch is again pressed. The car claims a good 17.21 KMPL as per ARAI rating which can be taken as 15-15.50 KMPL in city conditions and is a decenet average. Mahindra could have installed bigger tyres so as to increase the SUV feel and riding comfort Now let us look at the price and Mahindra have done a commendable job to start the pricing from around 6 lacs thanks to the sub 4m length of the car. The base model C2 starts at around 6 lac and it goes to 7.36 lac for a C8 having ABS, airbags reverse parking assist, alloy wheels, immobiliser, frnt fog lamps and many more features.   In and all the car is a good package for a family of five having a good space and better  looks at a competitive pricing. Competitors:-   1) Premier Rio 2) Reanult Duster 3) Maruti Ertiga   Cars in this range are Hyundai i20 & Volkswagen Polo

    A Failed Experiment.
Seeing the successful journey of Xylo, Mahindra seemed to be experimenting it in micro family class. But the confused designers have made me think that is it a SUV, a hatchback or a cross-over? This car has a capacity of seven passengers but no one can sit on those rear jump seats. Interiors are disappointing and it seems like a chopped Xylo from outside. A 1.5 ltr 1453cc diesel engine gives mileage of just 17kmpl on highways which is not enough to satisfy a micro-family person. The ride is very uncomfortable on rough Indian roads. It seems like there are no suspensions in any wheel. This declines it being a family car. But for a family of four to five members, it has quite enough space and height. I am using this car for last four years and it hardly goes for any maintenance except for changing Mobil-oil or small repairs. So its a maintenance free ride. You can rely on it for long and safe journeys. Quanto is priced between 7 lac to 8.56 lac and it completely satisfies its value for money tag. It can be bought as a taxi or a long distance convince but I will suggest to buy a regular hatchback or SUV instead of Mahindra Quanto.

    Worst car and Worst service!
Myself Tushar Patel from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. I had purchased Mahindra Quanto model C-8vehicle in 23-OCT-2012, from "Punjab Automobiles (India) Private Limited". I have always given this car for service on regular basis. Before that, I had a Maruti Wagon R and used till 4 yrs and sold it. So, no chance about my driving skills. In Nov-2014, I had an issue with the car and gave to Punjab Automobiles and they said having issue in engine???? Wow, I think all car segments having an Indicator alert before when any issue arises in the engine but this car never and we had no choice at that time. I had also asked for the warranty, but it's already expired and I asked service manager to repair engine and solve all issues and then ask for warranty for 2 yrs for engine but at that time they said why do you want to extend, after repairing the engine, we will give 6 months warranty. After 6 months, you can extend it, no need for now. Now what happens, my car also have an issue like water leakage issue from the radiator. This issue we already faced when the engine had an issue. So I asked for warranty before 6 months completion so now they are not agreed to give extended warranty. So now I am afraid for this car again. To avoid confusion, I was thinking to show this car to the different service center for a better solution. So for diagnosis, I binged my car to "Sheetal Motors" at 25 July 2015 and they said in your car have a radiator issue, you have to change it. But I have already changed the radiator on 19-Jan-2014 but again the same issue. So I again went to Punjab Automobiles and those guys said, the car radiator is okay but heating coils have an issue, so you need to change that and charges will be around 12,000 INR. Wow! what rubbish things are going on???? What I have to do??? Who is correct, Sheetal Motors or Punjab Automobiles??? There are only 2 service centers in my city. So I am really confused about it. Seriously this car gave me too much headache, nobody answers to me even when I ask customer care but never get any single reply.  So please do not buy Mahindra's car. You can see other user's review as well and then decide.

Quanto A Big Failure - Please Don't Buy
I am driving Quanto C8 from last two years and feel that I have been cheated with a worthless product. The car is not at all smooth to drive. The company has not tested the car before launching. In last two years, I have experienced 5-6 major breakdowns. Every time a breakdown occurs, I convince myself that probably this is a one-off and nothing will happen in future. But the car has some genuine problems with the turbocharger, shaft, gear box. Body paint is pathetic, unlike Maruti cars which do catch scratch marks so easily. I will advise not to buy this car and regret later. I also read a number of reviews before purchasing this car, but none of the reviewers had driven it long enough for me to consider. The company should take back the sold units and compensate to improve reputation. I have driven/owned Maruti and Hyundai cars and none of them gave so much trouble.

Please Do Not Buy Mahindra Cars
This car seemed very exciting when it was launched and I purchased in that hype but unfortunately the dealers very poor after sales services have forced me to change my opinion not only for this car but for all Mahindra variants. What I have learnt in last 22 months is that even a good product can be failed by bad after sales services. I purchased Quanto from Aditya Motors, Cuttack and have to visit again and again for same problems. They are simply unable to solve small problems and we have to face the harassment of visiting all the time. I think the company has not got any type of control over the dealers as even after complaining many times the same problem occurs. Also recently when a part was damaged I requested the service manager for warranty claim he simply denied without satisfying me why this warranty cannot be entertained and was not willing to give a warranty refusal letter. The service people in Mahindra lack training on how to deal with the customers and details about the product and warranty coverage.

    Quanto Automatic with convertible
Request mahindra to make quanto automatic gear shift with convertible and this will stand out from other compact SUVs. Definitely youth of india will reach this car soon and fast. Presently our people need such vehicle as second car or weekend cars. Hope mahindra will catch this fast and work on new designing for our cute Quanto (Junior Xylo / cousin of maruti gypsy). Coming to price, for present model price is too high compare to other foreign brands. Indians will first choose those brands that are made by indians. So reduce it and push this quanto with attractive pricing. Pls Pls .........make quanto convertible similar to mini cooper convertible. thank you. Expecting from earliest response for this new version of quanto.

Mileage: Powerful, giving 18-20 kmpl on the highway and 14 - 16 Kmpl on the city roads.  Best Features: Sensors, airbags, mileage/ diesel digital indicators, nice interiors.  Needs to improve: They can add audio control on the steering.  Overall Experience: Superb SUV experience in budget price.
