Mahindra & Mahindra is striving hard to take control of Indian car market. This time, it has entered the arena with its Young SUV, KUV100 in both petrol and diesel variants. The trim has got low price range with superior features. Designed and engineered at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, this machine may turn out to be a game changer.

Overview:

Mahindra entered petrol engine market with the launch of G80 engines in its mFALCON range. This trim houses most of the comfort and safety features, which the manufacturer has provided for KUV100 family. With improved safety features, comforts and spacious interiors added with combative exterior design, this model is expected to attract the audience for sure.  Micro hybrid technology, tuned suspension system, monocoque construction will aid in passenger experience. Maker has provided ABS with EBD as standard feature along with the dual air bags. All the aspects it possesses and designing will help standout from the crowd.

Exteriors:

Available in 7 different colors, this young SUV is constructed in a unique way, bringing out aggressive looks. The engraved bonnet covering the engine is stunning. The chrome inserted radiator grille with Mahindra's badge on it is 'kool'. The grille is surrounded by head light and LED DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) cluster which extend up to front doors with mFALCON signature on them. The muscular dual tone bumper with air intake structure and fog lamps at its ends adds to the combative looks. On the side profile, body colored front door handles, fist-shaped ORVMs along with the wheel arch cladding, door side claddings and mud-flaps appear very sporty and are well placed. The highly placed rear door handles, sculpted lines, slim roof-mounted antenna & roof rails on top make this muscular machine look great. The rear profile is very classy with features like dual tone bumper, trapezoid-shaped fog lamps, tail lamp and rear spoiler. Tinted wind screen and mirrors aid to give it a more enriched look. 

Interiors:

The interiors are very finely tuned, it has enough room for 5 passengers with more head & boot space. Piano Black and beige color combination for interiors is mood-lightning and look very attractive. The center console houses the gear shift knob allowing more room for passengers, along with HVAC (Heater, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) controls and infotainment system holding controls & driver's information. On top of the console, rectangular AC vents are fixed while hand brake is attached underneath it. For user convenience, the trim is incorporated with the features like 3.5” infotainment display screen, blue-tooth audio, hand free calling, USB, AUX, 12V front & rear power ports, air conditioner with heater, height adjustable driver seat, foldable rear seats, rear row arm rests, adjustable front & rear head rests, dead pedal (driver footrest), remote key-less entry, power windows, sunglass holder, cooled glove box, boot lamp, door pockets, puddle lamps & 1 liter bottle holder in all doors, rear parcel tray, and Led interior roof lamp. Performance:

This variant is powered by Mahindra mFALCON engine family. It draws power from mFALCON G80 MPFI (Multi Point Fuel Injection) working on dual variable valve timing engine. The mill composed of 1198cc displacement can draw 82 bhp at 5500 rpm and 115 Nm torque at 3500-3600 rpm. Coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, this machine works on front wheel drive train. It is BS4 emission norms compliant. This variant comes with a 35 liter tank capacity, and returns a mileage of 18.15 kmpl range which is satisfactory. 

Ride and Handling:

Attached with Independent McPherson strut with dual path mounts on front axle and Semi-independent twist beam on rear axle, this machine develops refined suspension which makes the ride smooth and comfortable. In addition, both the axles are also employed with coil spring and hydraulic gas charged shock absorbers to provide bettered cushioning. Tubeless radials with 185/65R14 size wheels are fixed with traditional brake system, disc & drum brakes are hooked up to front & rear wheels respectively. 

Safety:

The new entry from Mahindra provides the best in class safety standards in the segment. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) and dual air bags are available as standard. Collapsible steering column, child safety locks on rear doors, speed sensing automatic door locks, automatic hazard warning lamps on panic braking & crash, anti-theft security alarm, anti-slip clips for drive side floor mat are in its store in order to provide improved safety for passengers. Additionally, it also has power windows on all doors, central locking, seat belt warnings, door ajar warnings, and internal rear view mirrors with day / night function. Manufacturer has provided the machine with engine immobilizer to avoid theft and monocoque construction for dealing with collisions in a better way.
