Chevrolet Beat is one of the most admired cars from the reputed stables of Chevrolet India. This hatchback was launched in the Indian car market in year 2010. The company is selling this hatchback with petrol, diesel and LPG engine variants. The entry level trim is named as Chevrolet Beat PS, the mid level trim LS and the top end as LT. While the LPG version of this hatchback has only a two trims that are named as the Chevrolet Beat LS LPG , which is originally the mid level variant and the top end Chevrolet Beat LT LPG trim. This LS variant has a balanced mix of comfort and safety features integrated in it. This hatchback is fitted with the advanced SMARTECH II petrol/LPG combination engine, which has some advanced features as well. The engine is a 1.2-litre, in-line, S-Tec II engine with 4 cylinders and is skillfully mated with a smooth five speed manual transmission gear box. The company has integrated this mid level hatchback with many comfort and utility features along with some very crucial safety features as well.

 

Exteriors:

 

The designers of the company have done a brilliant job on the exteriors of this hatchback. The front fascia has a large radiator grille that is flanked by a radiant head light cluster. This smart hatchback has the ability to attain a top speed in the range of 145 – 150 kmph. While, this 1199cc based peppy enigne can propel this hatchback from 0 – 100kmph in a matter of 15.7 seconds , which is quite good. Chevrolet India claims that this impressive small hatchback has the ability to produce a mileage of 18.6 kmpl, when driven on petrol. While on the LPG mode this engine has the ability to generate a healthy mileage in the range of 10.1 to 13.3 kmpl, which is rather good.

 

Braking and Handling:

 

The company has equipped this hatchback with a powerful suspension system with the front axle being fitted with a McPherson Strut type suspension mechanism, which also has an anti-roll bar for added stability and comfort. Whereas the rear axle gets a compound crank type suspension mechanism with gas filled shock absorbers for both front and rear axles. Apart from the well balanced suspension system, the company has fitted this Chevrolet Beat LS LPG hatchback with an efficient braking system as well. The front tyres have been fitted with disc brakes and the rear tyres have been given solid drum brakes, which work competently with each other simultaneously.
