Best City Car For A Beginner

We took our first car Wagon R blue eyed boy in 2011 and here is my review -  Design: It has a very plain, box(y) looks from outside, I can say old school design but got the basics right. Somehow Suzuki is not taking much risk in terms of the design of the Wagon R and we can understand it why. They are able to manage very good sales ever after a plain design. From inside, dashboard design seems to be good, fit and finish are considerably good keeping the price of the car in mind. Getting a touch screen in 2011 was not possible. Driver seat is comfortable, you sit high enough to have a nice view of the road. It holds you good. Coming to the rear seat, legroom is very good, you can easily stretch your legs and feel no tired over long journeys as thigh support is also good. Three people can easily fit in the rear seat and no issue with the head room even for a 6-foot tall person. Storage space is plenty, 1ltr bottles fit in easily in the door pockets. Finally coming to boot space, it is just 180 litres losing to its competitors.  Performance: Wagon R has three cylinder 1.0-litre petrol engine. Power is 67bhp and torque is 90Nm. This is one of the best petrol engines you can get in the market, silent yet doesn't lag in power. Fuel economy is 16kmpl in city traffic and 19kmpl n highway. You get a very good amount of torque in the initially and makes it comfortable to drive in city traffic. However, it looses out on the highway where you feel sort of unsafe at high speeds mostly due to its proportion of height to width. The 5-speed gearbox is quite easy to shift but has to work on it to get the right speed. We need to appreciate the refinement level that Suzuki engineers has got on this. This has set a benchmark on the entry level hatchback and is still maintained well in Celerio. Ride quality is impressive at low speed as it takes all the pot holes that filter in but you experience vertical movement at high speed. Even you feel quite unsafe at corners in high speed but thanks to the steering which is so responsive. You get a nice feedback from the steering.  Safety: You get airbag only in high variant and ABS is missing in the basic model. Well, this car is testing NCAP crash test but believe me if tested, this car will fail the test.  Conclusion: While it is easy to drive in city traffic, a silent petrol engine, with a fuel economy of 16-19kmpl, comfortable rear seats, good after sales and service, good resale value, riding with most of the plus points, I can say the best buy for a medium aged person to buy. At the same time if you are the one who is looking for an entry level hatchback, with good performance and eye-catching design then this is not the car you are looking for.
